Course description

Strong English and writing skills are essential across a range of secondary subjects. English remains the only compulsory HSC subject so the continued development and strengthening of these skills throughout secondary school is critical for success in the senior secondary years. The English program covers reading comprehension and written expression of a wide range of text types such as information reports, media texts, poetry and creative narrative. Each year a unit in Essay Writing is presented to all groups. This fundamental writing skill is essential for strong performance in a range of subjects and must be built upon year after year. Good study habits are encouraged and modelled throughout the course.
